Russische Weihnachten
It was inevitable chief conductor Dmitri Liss himself would be responsible for the Christmas concert. And he does it in style with colorful Russian classics such as Tchaikovsky's famous First Piano Concerto, Op. 23 and Rimski-Korsakov’s Sheherazade. Together with virtuoso pianists Andrei Korobeinikov and Boris Berezovsky, Liss lets his Russian blood flow through his veins! An American critic once wrote about Liss’ Tchaikovsky interpretation: "Liss was seized by absolute power over the orchestra and the audience. It was a dialogue with eternity." Pay special attention to the violinist Adelina Hasani in Sheherazade, performing the legendary solo in Rimski-Korsakov's fairy-tale score about One Thousand and One Nights, the famous collection of Middle Eastern folk tales.
