The Archive - Ferenc Fricsay
This episode of The Archive presents the Hungarian conductor Ferenc Fricsay in 1961 during a tour in London with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, two years before his early death. For this studio concert, the programme they performed was somewhat eccentric: the overture of Rossini’s La Scala di Seta, then the Concerto No.1 by Bruch, with Yehudi Menuhin as guest musician. The concert ends on the overture of Beethoven’s Leonora 3.
