The Neighbour
The Neighbour
The internationally renowned Jo Strømgren dance company, featuring dancers Line Tørmoen, Dimitri Jourdeas, joins forces with the world-famous Norwegian classical pianist Leif Ove Andsnes in the 2010 Rose d’Or Award-winning short film ‘The Neighbour’. It’s a film about men and women, about single life, about the chance to start over again, about chances that have been missed. It is about how music affects us, and how we affect music: in a big Oslo apartment, a couple quarrels about being together. Belongings are already taken outside the flat. The neighbour, a lonesome pianist, is annoyed and bedevilled by the couple’s endless quarrels. When he plays Leos Janacek’s “In the Mist” on the piano, the sound penetrates through the walls. Slowly, the couple unconsciously succumbs to the influence of the music. Eventually they ends up deciding to cease their fighting: they resolve their argument and may think of unpacking their boxes again.
