The Archive: Leonard Bernstein conducts Stravinsky

‘The Archive’ pays homage to a great American conductor and composer whose vast repertoire ranged from Bach to the 20th century music: Leonard Bernstein. His versatility is illustrated by this 1977 recording, made at the English Bach Festival which Bernstein then presided. His predecessors had been Albert Schweitzer and Stravinsky. No doubt that his performance of the latter’s ‘Magnificat’ was a tribute to his senior colleague.
