The Archive - David Oistrakh recital
This episode of ‘The Archive’ pays homage to the Russian violinist David Oistrakh. Here we see him with his faithful friend Lev Oborin, playing Ludwig van Beethoven’s Sonata in F major, Franz Schubert’s Duo in A major, and Johannes Brahms’ Scherzo in C minor, performing these pieces with the ease he is known for, concerning the classical and romantic Great Masters. Nevertheless, Oistrakh is acknowledged as a specialist of Russian music. In a recording from Paris, he plays Sergei Prokofiev’s ‘Five melodies’, accompanied by Frida Bauer on the piano.
