Passionate Measures - Episode 4

Passionate Measures is a ten episode TV series about the South Netherlands Philharmonic. You, the viewer, get a special behind-the-scenes look at the orchestra of the Southern Netherlands. In the fourth episode the orchestra introduces young people to classical music for the first time. The South Netherlands Philharmonic has all kinds of educative initiatives for primary school classes. We follow trombone player Mark Boonstra, who visits primary school De Duizendpoot as mr pBone. Students of the seventh grade learn how to play and slide en make music together. Also, you get to see a nice portrait of timpanist Han Vogel. He has been a staple in the orchestra and makes sure he remains in good shape, to be able to perform to his best abilities during concerts. He’s an avid marathon runner, for instance. We follow Han during a training and he tells us how he became so attached to classical music.
