Concerts in a Palace - Schubert & Spohr

This episode of Concerts in a Palace is the fifth in a series of six that was recorded in 1999 at the wonderful 18th-century baroque castle Schloß Heidecksburg in Rudolstadt, Germany. You'll discover Anna Rabinova and Vladimir Stoupel perform Franz Schubert’s Sonatina in A minor, Op. 137, No. 2. Schubert called all three works that constitute his Opus 137 "Sonatas", although they are today usually listed as "Sonatinas", due to his Viennese publisher, Diabelli. Although these pieces were composed in 1816, when the composer was 19, they were not printed until after his death in 1828. In the second part of this broadcast, violinist Karl Suske and his daughter Cornelia Smaczny on harp perform Louis Spohr’s Sonata for violin and harp in C minor.
