Paavo Järvi conducts Tchaikovsky & Berlioz
The Estonian born conductor Paavo Järvi comes from a very musical family. His conducting father, Neeme Järvi, moved with his wife and children to the United States and therefore Paavo could study at the Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute with Leonard Bernstein. His brother Kristjan Järvi is also a conductor. Paavo was Music Director of the Orchestre de Paris from 2010 to 2016. During that time he made a lot of beautiful recordings with the orchestra and star soloists. This concert at the Salle Pleyel in 2014 features the Russian star pianist Denis Matsuev. Russian classical music composers are his specialty which you can hear during Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 2. After this the orchestra plays Berlioz' Harold en Italie and Ravel's Daphnis et Chloé suite No. 2.
