Prokofiev - Piano Concerto No. 1, Op. 10
Valery Gergiev conducts the Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre in a performance of Sergei Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 1, Op. 10. Soloist is the Russian pianist Denis Kozhukhin (*1986), who was awarded the third prize in the Leeds International Piano Competition of 2006. The one-movement First Concerto, the shortest of Prokofiev's concertos, is about 15 minutes in duration. It premiered under the baton of Konstantin Saradzhev in Moscow on July 25, 1912 with the composer at the piano. This performance was recorded at Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in the Russian capital Moscow as part of Prokofiev's 125th anniversary celebrations in 2013.
