Dans ce cas on peut vraiment parler d’un concert historique: Quand le maestro Lorin Maazel et l’Orchestre philharmonique de New York ont exécuté en 2008 à Pyongyang, capitale de la Corée du Nord, il a paru possible, un court instant, de mettre fin à la guerre froide, après plus que 55 ans. Au programme : Symphonie No. 9 ‘Du Nouveau Monde’ de Dvorák, ‘An American in Paris’ de Gershwin et le prélude de Lohengrin de Wagner. C’était la première fois qu’un orchestre américain donnait un concert en Corée du Nord. Cet événement impressionnant montre que la musique est une langue universelle.
