This month, Stingray Classica premieres two thrilling concerts that feature some of the greatest music from the silver screen. On Saturday, October 19 at 21:00, Stingray Classica presents a ‘Hollywood Gala’, in which conductor Ludwig Wicki leads the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and the DR Junior Choir. This concert’s program features a selection of music from the greatest Hollywood films, including Titanic, The Bodyguard, Pirates of the Caribbean, Moulin Rouge, and The Hunger Games, written by major film music composers including John Williams, Hans Zimmer, and James Horner. On Saturday, October 26 at 21:00, musicians of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, the DR Big Band, and the Danish National Vocal Ensemble join forces under the baton of Klaus Tönshoff in a dazzling concert featuring the greatest songs from black and white cinema. Norwegian mezzosoprano Tuva Semmingsen sings hits from movies such as Gentleman Prefer Blondes (1953), The Wizard of Oz (1939), and Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961). These broadcasts are repeated on Monday, October 21 and 28 at 21:00, respectively.

Swiss conductor Ludwig Wicki leads the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and the DR Junior Choir in a sparkling concert program of film music. The program features a selection of music from great and Oscar-winning Hollywood films, including Titanic, The Bodyguard, Pirates of the Caribbean, Braveheart, and Moulin Rouge, written by major composers such as John Williams, Hans Zimmer, James Horner, and Klaus Badelt. Highlights include ‘He’s a pirate/Davy Jones’ from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest; ‘Now We Are Free’ from Gladiator; ‘My Heart Will Go On’ from Titanic; and ‘Shallow’ from A Star Is Born. Featured soloists in this concert are the young talented singers Andrea Lykke Oehlenschlæger and Diluckshan Jeyaratnam. This performance was recorded at the DR Koncerthuset in Copenhagen, Denmark, in May 2022.

This concert performance was recorded at the DR Koncerthuset in Copenhagen, Denmark, in June 2020.
