Concerts in Quarantine II

Wednesdays in February

In February, Stingray Classica continues to broadcast inspiring chamber music performances recorded at Berlin's Schinkel Pavillon. Director Jan Schmidt-Garre invited outstanding classical musicians to take part in the Concerts in Quarantine series from March to May 2020. While reality abruptly and radically changed in the face of COVID-19, and social and cultural spaces suddenly disappeared from our everyday life, Schinkel Pavillon opened its unexpectedly vacated exhibition space for this intimate concert series in isolation! This month’s performances include a solo recital by pianist Zlata Chochieva performing piano pieces by Frédéric Chopin, Franz Liszt and Felix Mendelssohn, while pianist Francesco Piemontesi accompanies violist Tabea Zimmermann in works by Max Reger and Robert Schumann. On February 17, pianist Zlata Chochieva and soprano Jacquelyn Wagner bundle their forces in a Lieder program of late-Romantic works by Richard Wagner and Gustav Mahler. Clarinet player Sharon Kam closes this month’s series performing works by Claude Debussy and Johannes Brahms.
