This June, Stingray Classica broadcasts the 13-part documentary series ‘Mozart on Tour’, which chronicles the journey of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart across Europe. The series, hosted by eminent conductor, pianist and composer André Previn, features some of Mozart’s greatest piano concertos performed by renowned European orchestras and the finest soloists. Mozart on Tour - Episode 1, 2 & 3
June 6 and 9 | 14:00
The 13-part Mozart on Tour series chronicles the journey of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart across Europe. This broadcast features the first three episodes of this series, taking us to London, Mantua, and Bologna. In the first episode, Vladimir Ashkenazy performs as both soloist and conductor in Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 12, KV 414, accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The second episode features soloist Heidrun Holtmann as she performs Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 1, KV 37, and Piano Concerto No. 4, KV 41. Holtmann is accompanied by the Orchestra della Radiotelevisione della Svizzera, led by Marc Andreae. In the third episode, Andreae and his orchestra return for a performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 5, KV 175, featuring Malcolm Frager as the soloist.
Mozart on Tour – Episode 4, 5 & 6

The 13-part Mozart on Tour series chronicles the journey of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart across Europe. This broadcast features episode no. 4, 5, and 6, taking us to Mannheim, Schwetzingen, and Paris. In the fourth episode, Gianluigi Gelmetti leads the Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart in a performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 6, KV 238, featuring Christian Zacharias as the solist. In the fifth episode, both Gelmetti and Zacharias return for a performance of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 8, KV 246. The sixth episode features Mitsuko Uchida as the soloist in Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 9, KV 271. Uchida is accompanied by the Mozarteum Orchestra under the baton of Jeffrey Tate.
Mozart on Tour – Episode 7, 8 & 9

The 13-part Mozart on Tour series chronicles the journey of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart across Europe. This broadcast features episode No. 7, 8, and 9, taking us to Vienna and Prague. In episode No. 7, Jeffrey Tate conducts the English Chamber Orchestra in a performance of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 17, KV 453, featuring Dezsö Ránki as the soloist. Episode No. 8 features soloist Ivan Klánský as he performs Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20, KV 466. Klánský is accompanied by the Prague Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Jiri Belohlávek. Simultaneously conducting and playing the piano, André Previn leads the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in a performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 24, KV 491 in episode No. 9.
Mozart on Tour – Episode 10 to 13

The 13-part Mozart on Tour series chronicles the journey of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart across Europe. This broadcast features episode 10 to 13, taking us to Prague, Frankfurt, Munich, and Vienna. In episode No. 10, pianist Zoltán Kocsis joins conductor Jiri Belohlávek and the Prague Chamber Orchestra for a performance of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23, KV 488. Episode No. 11 features soloist Radu Lupu as he performs Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 19, KV 459, accompanied by the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie under the baton of David Zinman. In episode No. 12, Wilhelm Keitel leads the Bavarian Radio Orchestra in a performance of Mozart’s Piano Concert No. 26, KV 537, featuring Homero Francesch as the solist. In the last episode of this series, soloist Aleksander Madzar and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra directed by André Previn join forces in a performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 27, KV 595.
