Starting in November, Stingray Classica broadcasts the full Piano Edition of the Concours musical international de Montréal 2024 (CMIM) on Tuesday evenings at 21:00. Twenty-four of the world’s finest young pianists were selected for the First Round. The ten highest-scoring pianists advanced to the semi-final round, consisting of a solo recital and a performance with a chamber music ensemble. Six competitors advanced to the final round, where they performed with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. Witness the next generation of piano virtuosos as they compete for one of the classical music world’s most prestigious prizes on Stingray Classica!


CMIM Piano 2024 – First Round: Yungyung Guo

Pianist Yungyung Guo (Hong Kong SAR, 2003) performs Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Andante in F major for a small mechanical organ, K. 616; Etude No. 3 and No. 2 from Béla Bartók’s Three Etudes, Op. 18; and César Franck’s Prélude, Choral et Fugue, during the first round of the Piano Edition of the Concours musical international de Montréal 2024 (CMIM). This performance was recorded at the Bourgie Hall of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.

Pianist Saeyoon Chon (South Korea, 1995) performs Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 6 in F major, Op. 10 No. 2; Choral et variations from Henri Dutilleux’s Piano Sonata; and Franz Liszt’s Rhapsodie espagnole, S. 254, during the first round of the Piano Edition of the Concours musical international de Montréal 2024 (CMIM). Pianist Derek Wang (USA, 1998) performs Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Fantasia No. 4 in C minor, K. 475; Béla Bartók’s Three Burlesques, Op. 8c; and Franz Liszt’s Réminiscences de Don Juan, S. 418, during the first round of the Piano Edition of the Concours musical international de Montréal 2024 (CMIM). This performance was recorded at the Bourgie Hall of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.

Pianist Élisabeth Pion (Canada, 1996) performs Étude No. 26 in G major, and Étude No. 111 in G minor from Hélène de Montgeroult’s Études; Robert Schumann’s Sonata No. 2 in G minor, Op. 22; Wilhelm Kempff’s transcription of Siciliano from J. S. Bach’s Flute Sonata No. 2, BWV 1031; and Sofia Gubaidulina’s Chaconne, during the first round of the Piano Edition of the Concours musical international de Montréal 2024 (CMIM). Pianist Muzi Li (China, 1998) performs Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Moments musicaux, Op. 16; and Triana from Isaac Albéniz’s Iberia (book 2), during the first round of the Piano Edition of the Concours musical international de Montréal 2024 (CMIM). This performance was recorded at the Bourgie Hall of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.


CMIM Piano 2024 – First Round: Adrian Herpe

Tuesday, November 26 | 21:40

Pianist Adrian Herpe (France/Ukraine, 2000) performs Novellette No. 8 in F-sharp minor from Robert Schumann’s Novelletten, Op. 21; Domenico Scarlatti’s Sonata in B minor, K. 27, and Sonata in E minor, K. 98; and Guido Agosti’s transcription of Igor Stravinksy’s The Firebird Suite (Danse infernale, Berceuse, and Finale), during the first round of the Piano Edition of the Concours musical international de Montréal 2024 (CMIM). This performance was recorded at the Bourgie Hall of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
