Ascension Day

On the occasion of Ascension Day, Stingray Classica traditionally presents a spiritual classic: on Thursday, May 13, Sigiswald Kuijken conducts his baroque ensemble La Petite Bande and the Ex Tempore choir in a performance of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Ascension Oratorio and thematically related material composed by his son, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. Recorded at St. Nicolas Church in Leipzig, an impressive historic church in J. S. Bach’s hometown, this concert lends a suitable soundscape to one of the most important holidays of the Christian faith.
